Co-leader Emma Nilsson, Fanny Sunesson and Madeleine Augustsson
Sweden’s Lina Boqvist and Emma Nilsson both shot 69 (-3) in the opening round of the Solvesborg Ladies Open to share the lead on Wednesday.
Boqvist started her first round strongly, with birdies on the opening two holes. The young Swede dropped shots on the 4th and 6th holes before birdies on the 7th and 9th, gave her an opening nine of two under par. Two further birdies mixed with a bogey on the 12th, put Boqvist at the top of the leaderboard and the leader in the clubhouse from the morning starters.
Fellow Swede Emma Nilsson was one of the afternoon players who made an impact in ideal scoring conditions. Nilsson mixed five birdies with two bogeys to join Boqvist at the top of the leaderboard.
Scotland’s Heather MacRae and Kelsey MacDonald both eagled the 9th hole on their way to opening rounds of 70 (-2) to be tied for third place. MacRae’s round was a game of two halves, with a string of four bogeys on the front nine, matched by four birdies on the homeward stretch, from the 14th to 17th.
Belgium’s Chloe Leurquin shot an opening 71 (-1) to take 5th place with five players, including Spain’s Patricia Sanz, who is currently lying 2nd on the LETAS Order of Merit, shooting level par to be tied for sixth.
The second round’s play will commence at 8.00am with 30 professionals and ties making the cut after 36 holes.
