Anika Bolčíková has been looking forward to this week for a while as she gets ready to play in her homeland on the LET Access Series (LETAS).
The 25-year-old, who turned professional in 2021, is ready for the Ladies Slovak Golf Open to take place at TALE Ski Golf & Hotel Resort.
Bolčíková is excited for up-and-coming Slovakian players to be able to experience playing on LETAS and she is also looking forward to her parents being able to watch her.
“I am very excited that one of the LETAS tournaments is held in Slovakia,” she said. “Because that is a perfect opportunity for some Slovak players to try this type of tournament or at least come and feel its atmosphere.
“In my opinion, this is one of the steps that can help golf in Slovakia to be more recognized, and it can help Slovak girls turn professional when they have a feeling that it is the right thing to do.
“Also because of this tournament, Slovak golfers can create their understanding of what it means to be a professional golfer. The course is shorter, but all the more technical. The course is beautifully set in nature and is hilly.
“I’m very excited for my parents to have the opportunity to see me play. I hope that there will be a lot of spectators, to support and watch the female professional golf tournament.”
Bolčíková played in three events on LETAS in 2023 and has also played in three in 2024 with her best result coming at the Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge.
The Slovakian star is hoping that her knowledge of the course – thanks to a special opportunity she received to play with the course designer – will help her out this week.
She explained: “So far, I have completed three LETAS tournaments this season. In the last month, I have played two local professional tournaments in Slovakia and my performance is improving tournament by tournament. I believe that this trend will continue.
“I had a chance to play the Grey Bear course with its designer Bob Walton and learn some interesting stories and facts about the course.
“It was a unique experience and a unique opportunity for me to prepare for the LETAS tournament in the best possible way. I believe the home course advantage will translate into great shots and ultimately a score. I am looking forward to the tournament.”
