In wet conditions, Swedish amateur Matilda Bjorkman had the best of the morning conditions to hold a three shot lead after day one of the PGA Championship Gothenburg.
The 18-year-old had a slow start with a bogey on the fourth hole but soon fired up the flatstick to roll in two consecutive birdies on holes seven and eight.
At the turn, Bjorkman kept the momentum to fire five birdies but a double bogey on the 17th held the Swede back from extending her lead further.
Speaking about the second day, Bjorkman said: “My round today was pretty solid. It wasn’t spot on from the tee but I always had a ball in play.
“I managed to hit some solid approach shots that set me up with some good opportunities on the greens and then I had a great day with my putter. It was fun out on the course.”
Play was suspended at two o’clock and resumed at five, with all players managing to compete their round.
“The course was in great condition today. We got some rainy weather, but the greens managed to stay dry for my round.
“Tomorrow is a new day with new opportunities, so I’ll just go out tomorrow and stick to the game plan. Hopefully I will hit some good shots and have fun.”
Three shots back on one-under-par lies, Denmark’s Natacha Host Husted and Cecilie Finne-Ipsen.
Whilst four players, last week’s 36-hole leader Sweden’s Andrea Lignell, Australia’s Kelsey Bennett and France’s Lucie Andre all sit in tied fourth on par.
