The Ladies European Tour (LET) found its new star after Australia’s Kelsey Bennett secured a career changing victory at the Australian Women’s Classic.
The overnight leader battled through brutally tough conditions carding a round of 71(-1) to claim the win on 13-under-par.
The victory also moves Bennett to the top of the LET Order of Merit and the Australian has booked her spot at the AIG Women’s Open.
Bennett earned her LET spot at the 2024 Lalla Aicha Final Qualifying but before that had heartbreakingly missed out on a LETAS card that same season.
Bennett played two seasons on LETAS and during that time showed signs of being a player to watch.
The 26-year-old recorded nine top 10 finishes and one win at the Hauts de France Pas de Calais Golf Open in September 2024.
For Bennett this was her second professional victory as she had won the Athena the same year and the animated Aussie secured the win in spectacular fashion.
After brutal conditions during the tournament week, Bennett found herself on the tough side of the draw but battled through to make the three-way playoff against Switzerland’s Anais Maggetti and England’s Billie-Jo Smith.
Calm and composed, Bennett sunk an impressive 35-foot birdie putt to decisively end the playoff after one hole.
Bennett finished the 2024 season in 10th on the Order of Merit, a meagre 166 points away from automatic promotion to the LET.
During her time on LETAS, Bennett was a history maker holding the course record for Golf de Montauban (63, -9), host of the Arkea Montauban Ladies Open.
Long before her LET victory, it was clear during her time on LETAS that Bennett was destined for success. We’re proud that LETAS played a key role in her journey and look forward to watching her achieve even more in the years ahead.
