Krista Bakker
Finland’s Krista Bakker will be full of confidence going into the final day’s play at the Norrporten Ladies Open.
The 21-year-old shot a second round of 68, 3 under par, to move into a five shot lead with one round to play. Bakker completed her round with five birdies and two bogeys to be the only player under par on the challenging Sundsvall course.
Bakker will be in search of back-to-back wins after claiming the CreditGate24 GolfSeries Hamburg at Treudelberg Golf & Country Club in Germany last week. Her closest challenges are Germany’s Olivia Cowan and fellow Swedish amateurs, Anna Appert-Lund and Elinor Haag, who are all tied at even par, 142.
With a win this week, Bakker would move into the top five on the LETAS order of merit, which will be her goal come the end of the season, as these players will earn membership of the Ladies European Tour, while players in sixth to 20th positions will have the opportunity to progress to the final stage of Lalla Aicha Tour School for 2016.
Cowan, just over 1,200 points behind current leader on the LETAS ranking, fellow German Isi Gabsa, will be hoping to capitalise on her absence due to Gabsa taking part in the LPGA Qualifying School in California this week.
Twenty-five professionals and six amateurs made the cut, which fell at 6 over par. The final round will commence at 7.30am tomorrow morning.
