Bakker Continues Strong Form in Sweden

                                                            Krista Bakker

Finland’s Krista Bakker continued her strong form in the first round of the Norrporten Ladies Open at Sundsvall GC, opening with a two under par, 70, to tie for the lead with fellow Finn Annika Nykanen.

Bakker won for the first time on the LET Access Series, claiming last week’s CreditGate24 GolfSeries Hamburg Open, to move into 7th place on the LETAS Order of Merit. The 21-year-old played solidly with just one bogey on her card at the par four 17th, mixed with three birdies on the 4th, 10th and 11th holes.

Nykanen recorded three birdies and three bogeys in her first twelve holes, joining Bakker at the top of the leader board with a birdie on the final hole.

Sweden’s Olivia Dose is the only other player under par on the challenging Sundsvall course, recording a one under 71 to claim third position.

Four players, Olafia Kristinsdottir from Iceland, England’s Rachel Goodall, Emile Piquot from France and Swedish amateur Anna Appert Lund are all tied for fourth place at even par.

Germany’s Olivia Cowan, currently lying second on the LETAS Order of Merit, struggled to find her recent form until an eagle two on the par four 8th hole put the German player back inside the cut line going into tomorrow’s second round.
