Kajsa Arwefjäll clinched a three-stroke victory after a final round of 67 (-5) at the MoreGolf Mastercard Open.
The 24-year-old sat in a share of third place at the 36-hole mark after rounds of 70 and 69 on the first two days at Varbergs Golf Klubb.
Arwefjäll got off to a hot start in Sweden making a birdie on the first hole before making back-to-back birdies on six and seven.
The Swedish player rolled in back-to-back birdies on nine and ten before adding a further birdie on 15.
Arwefjäll dropped her only shot of the day on the 17th but had done enough to seal her second LETAS title with a score of 10-under-par.
“It felt very special to win again on LETAS,” said the Swede. “This is my first win as a professional golfer, so that’s pretty exciting and I feel like it was even more exciting for my first professional win to be in Sweden. I’m very happy with that.
“My game was very good today, I was hitting the ball very well which was very good because the course was very windy today, so it made it harder. Hitting the ball well today was one of the key parts.
“I gave myself a lot of opportunities to make birdies. I was close to the pin and made some putts, I also saved myself towards the end with some good putts. It was fun, I was very happy with my game today.
“When I was coming down the stretch, I usually don’t look at the leaderboard when I am playing so I didn’t actually know what was going on if I was leading or by how many shots.
“On 18 I was very nervous hitting my tee shot because I hit my tee shot on 17 in the water to the right. I was nervous on 18, usually I have a draw, and the out of bounds was pretty close to the fairway on the left, so I was pretty scared hitting my last drive on 18.
“Luckily, I hit it in the fairway, so it was good. I was nervous in the end, but because I didn’t know what the scores were, I wasn’t too nervous, it was a good nervous.”
It was a second LETAS title for Arwefjäll, who won the 2021 GolfUppsala Open while still an amateur.
However, it was her first victory as a professional having turned professional at the end of May after graduating from San Jose State University.
“It means so much to have my first professional victory,” she continued. “I only turned pro a month ago, this was my fifth tournament as a professional. I have been playing good for a while, so it was very fun to have it go my way today in the wind.
“My mum and dad drove down today from Tranås to watch me on my last round, so I think it was very special to have them watch me and for my dad to caddie for me as well. Last time I won on LETAS he also caddied for me, so it was fun to do it again with him.”
Sweden’s Andrea Lignell, who had led from the start of the competition, finished in second place on seven-under-par.
Norway’s Karoline Lund and Dutch player Lauren Holmey ended the week in a share of third place on three-under-par.
Three players finished in a tie for fifth place with Norway’s Tina Mazarino, Swedish amateur Johanna Sjursen and Scotland’s Louise Duncan all on two-under-par.
Amateur Alicia Olsson was the fourth Swede in the top 10 with a T8 finish alongside England’s Billie-Jo Smith, while France’s Ariane Klotz and Australian amateur Belinda Ji were T10.
In the LETAS Order of Merit, Arwefjäll has jumped up to second in the standings and now has 965 points to her name.
