Sweden’s Linn Andersson won the Kristianstad Ahus Ladies PGA Open in fine style, defeating Norway’s Caroline Martens and Englishwoman Eleanor Givens on the first extra play-off hole.

The 18 year-old amateur, whose father Stefan was caddying for her, started the final round with a one shot lead over fellow Swede Martina Edberg. Andersson did not start the day well, scoring two bogeys in the first two holes in windy conditions. Two over par at the turn, the young Swede birdied the par three 11th before double bogeying the following hole. A further two bogeys on the back nine and Andersson signed for a closing 77 (+5), joining Martens, who shot an impressive closing 69, and Givens (75) on a +4 total.

On the first extra hole, Andersson holed her sand wedge from 87 yards for an eagle, which could not be matched by either Martens or Givens. Andersson commented, “It is clear that this is my biggest victory but I will not turn pro just for that. My plan is to start studying at college next year. When I finish my studies in the United States, I hope to become a professional.”

Sweden’s Isabella Ramsay, closed with a one over par, 73 to finish in fourth with fellow Swede Anna Dahlberg Soderstrom scoring a final round 72, to finish at 6 over par and fifth position.

The LET Access Series moves to Sölvesborg GC next week for the Sölvesborg Ladies Open hosted by Fanny Sunesson, which takes place from the 22 – 24 May.
