Caroline gained invaluable confidence from her two victories and her third place finish at the Dinard Ladies Open. She confirmed that she is one of France’s brightest and most promising talents and will be able to take that new-found confidence onto the Ladies European Tour this year. Over the last two-and-a-half seasons on the LET, Caroline has posted five top ten finishes and is now set on earning her first LET win.
Qualification for the Open de France Féminin
Professional players
The winner of the GENERALI Ladies Tour Order of Merit along with the two best French players receive a place at the Open de France Féminin, scheduled for 9-12 September at Paris International Golf Club. Caroline Afonso, Jade Schaeffer and Julie Maisongrosse were already qualified and so the two open slots have been given to Nathalie David-Mila and Mélodie Bourdy.
Amateur competitors
The top three French amateur players have also been invited to the Open de France Féminin and they are Lucie André, who was the leading amateur on the Order of Merit, Morgane Bazin de Jessey and Mathilde Cassaignau.
French Rookie Prize – Monique Saubaber Trophy (1500€)
Julie Maisongrosse, playing her first season as a professional, took the Monique Saubaber Trophy, in memory of France’s first female professional golfer, who passed away in January 2008. Finishing sixth on the GENERALI Ladies Tour Order of Merit with 4,750 points, the French rookie confirmed her potential and will be one to watch on the Ladies European Tour this year.
Best Amateur – Catherine Lacoste Challenge
Lucie André, who finished second on the Order of Merit, won the Catherine Lacoste Challenge trophy as the leading amateur and is one of France’s greatest prospects for the future. Catherine Lacoste, daughter of the famous golf champion Simone de la Chaume and of the legendary tennis champion René Lacoste, was the only amateur player in the world to have won the US Women’s Open in 1967.
Awards Ceremony at the Open de France Féminin
An awards ceremony celebrating the 2010 GENERALI Ladies Tour will take place on Friday 10th September at Paris International Golf Club, during the second round of the Open de France Féminin. The successful players will be congratulated on their performances and those who worked hard to ensure the success of the first GENERALI Ladies Tour season will be recognised.
