Antonio Peñalver, General Manager of the Murcia Sports Council said, “Murcia Sport Council is proud and honoured to be the main sponsor of the first Ladies European Tour Access Series event in Spain.
We want to show to the LET and all the players our new High Performance Centre and our incredible weather conditions for golf training all over the year.
We want to encourage all the players to do their best and show us their incredible skills. Feel at home, have a great stay and let the best take the trophy.”
La Manga Club has hosted the LET’s Qualifying School for the past two years, which has proved to be a stepping stone for some of the brightest talents in the women’s game today such as Anna Nordqvist, Maria Hernandez, Christel Boeljon and Florentyna Parker. It will also welcome the future stars of the game for LET Qualifying School for the 2011 season this December.
Synonymous with golfing excellence for over 35 years, La Manga Club’s three 18-hole championship golf courses offer a year-round sunny climate and high-tech practice facilities, making it the ideal location for the Murcia Ladies Open.
La Manga Club’s golfing facilities are world-renowned and the resort has been host to many prestigious golfing tournaments. It was also named World’s Leading Sports Resort 2006 & 2007 at the World Travel Awards.
La Manga Club’s General Manager, Julio Delgado welcomed the event. “It is a great honour for all of us at La Manga Club to play host to the LET Access Series tournament, which will be taking place in Spain for the very first time between November 18th and 21st.
A benchmark for golf in Europe and a nominee for the title of the World’s Leading Sports Resort on several occasions, La Manga Club has always been firmly committed to women’s golf, and has been the venue for major tournaments such as the Ladies’ Spanish Open and the PGA Women’s Open, as well as the 2010 European Ladies Team Championship, amongst others.
The South Course, upon which the tournament will be played, is currently in unbeatable condition.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all participants staying at La Manga Club a very warm welcome and the very best of success in what is sure to be a thrilling competition. “
The Murcia Ladies Open is being promoted by detiagreen. The General Manager, Ignacio Alonso-Martinez said “It is a great honour for us to promote the very first LET Access Series event in Spain. We love the sport of golf and all that it represents. We, detiagreen, are thrilled to cross the national barriers and jump into what we think is the most exciting movement of the Ladies European Tour in the past years, the creation of a European feeder tour, which is the base to a better and quicker raising of the main tour.
We think the LET Access Series events are named to be the Ladies “Challenge Tour” and we want to participate in its development, promoting as many tournaments as we can. European female golfers are so good we have to develop the best showcase to demonstrate it. The feeder tour will be the launch for all those players who had to leave Europe in the past seeking real competitive tournaments. For all the players; we will try to make you feel at home, do your best, and enjoy your stay!”
Murcia airport is just 30 minutes from La Manga Club and Alicante is around an hour’s drive away. For golfing enthusiasts who would like to be involved with the event, La Manga Club has rooms available.
