Hassan and Tvede had played the par five 18th hole three times in the sudden death play off on Saturday evening when darkness fell and they had to resume on Sunday morning.
After a further two extra play off holes, Julie Tvede picked up her first win on the LET Access Series, becoming the Murcia Ladies Open Champion.
Tvede was delighted with her win, “I played really badly in India a couple of weeks ago and just found something in the first round this week. Yesterday was so windy I was just really trying to hold things together. I am so happy to win, it’s great to be exempt from the first stage of qualifying school and not to have to go next week.”
Fourteen-year-old amateur Charley Hull finished in a tie for 3rd place with France’s Marion Ricordeau at 4 over par. Hull birdied the 16th hole to move to even par and looked certain to be involved in the play-off until she double bogeyed both the 17th and 18th holes.
France’s Celine Palomar shot a closing 76 to finish in 5th place alongside fellow countrywoman Barbara Genuini. Despite a closing round of 80, Genuini earned a place into LET final qualifying school by finishing 5th on the LET Access Series Order of Merit.
At the conclusion of the 2010 LET Access Series, one player will earn membership of the Ladies European Tour for the following season. However, the graduate will only be announced after the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters concludes on 11th December, after the LET’s Final Exemption Ranking has been published.
