Maisongrosse’s feat was recognised at an awards ceremony evening during the Lacoste Ladies Open de France at Paris International Golf Club, where she was presented with a cheque for €1500.
Of the three GENERALI Ladies Tour events played this season, Maisongrosse won the Dinard Ladies Open this September, was runner-up at the La Nivelle Ladies Open and tied for 32nd at the Terre Blanche Ladies Open in March. The 23-year-old from Perpignan in the south of France was delighted with her results.
She said: “I’m more confident and I know now that I can win. It was great to play on the tour because it was easy for me to travel in France, it was well organised and I could mix with my friends on the amateur circuit at the same time.”
Fellow Frenchwoman Caroline Afonso, the 2010 order of merit winner, finished second and earned €1000, while Joanne Klatten was third and took home €500.
Afonso finished second at the Terre Blanche Ladies Open and seventh at the La Nivelle Ladies Open. She said: “I am happy and second is okay. Last year I won it but I’m happy with my season in general.”
Klatten also won the Trophée Monique Saubaber and was handed €1500 as the rookie of the year, the prize being named after the famous French golf teacher.
She tied for third at the Terre Blanche Ladies Open, finished eighth at the La Nivelle Ladies Open and tied for 10th at the Dinard Ladies Open this year.
Klatten said: “I absolutely loved it because first of all, the organisation is great, the courses are in great condition and it takes place on three very different golf courses so you play different golf all the time. The courses are in great shape. Terre Blanche is quite long, Dinard is different and played shorter this year because of the weather, but I am always up for playing in a competitive environment because that’s how you improve. ”
Alexandra Bonetti won the Trophée Catherine Lacoste as the best amateur but unfortunately was unable to attend the awards ceremony as she left France for Texas Christian University in the USA in August.
The GENERALI Ladies Tour was established in 2010 by the French Golf Federation to provide competitive opportunities for female professional and amateur golfers. It provided the opportunity for six players to earn entry into the Lacoste Ladies Open de France.
Its tournaments, which were played between March and September, form part of the Ladies European Tour Access Series, also known as LETAS.
The other events on the LETAS schedule are the LETAS Ladies Open at Hazlemere Golf Club in the UK, which was played in August; the Trophée Preven’s to be played in France from October 13-15, the Murcia Ladies Open in Spain taking place on November 17-19 and the Azores Ladies Open from December 2-4.
