Bourdy, whose is yet to post a top ten on the LET Access Series this season, made a slow start bogeying the first hole. The Frenchwoman came back strongly with eight birdies in her next twelve holes. With just one other bogey on the 16th, Bourdy was content with her day’s work, with an opening 66.
Henrietta Zuel has been in a rich vein of form this year on the LET Access Series, picking up two titles in the Terre Blanche Ladies Open and also at the LETAS Ladies Open. Zuel has struggled to replicate that form on the LET and is in danger of losing her card for the 2012 season. With a further win this week, the young Englishwoman would put herself in a very strong position to earn her LET playing rights for next season.
It was also a good day for France’s Elena Giraud who signed for a 67 and the French amateur Claudia Chemin, who carded a 68 to sit alongside Julie Greciet and Camille Fallay. They were joined on 4 under par by Dutch woman Marieke Nivard.
The LET Access Series is the second division tour for women golfers aspiring to compete on the Ladies European Tour, which features seven tournaments on the 2011 schedule.
The tournament, organised by Prodene Klint, is taking place from October 13-15, 2011, with a cut to the leading 25 professional players and ties after two rounds. The purse of €25,000 provides a cheque for €3,387.50 to the winner.
A further two events are still to be played this season, the Murcia Ladies Open in Spain from November 17-19 and the Azores Ladies Open, from the 2–4 December at Campo de Golf de Batalha, Ponta Delgado, São Miguel Island in Portugal.
Following the completion of the season, two full cards for the Ladies European Tour in 2012 will be awarded. Eight players from the LET Access Series Order of Merit not already exempt will also progress directly to LET Final Qualifying School.
