Getting to Know Julia Engstrom

Viaplay Ladies Finnish Open champion Julia Engstrom answers a few quick questions. Julia is rookie on LETAS after enjoying a very successful amateur career.

Who is your favourite golfer?

My favourite golfer is Rory Mcilroy 

What’s your favourite club in your bag?

My driver

What’s been your biggest golfing achievement of your career?

As an amateur it was when I won Ladies British Amateur Championship. As a professional it was when I won my first LET Access Series event in Finland and a fifth place in Morocco earlier this year.

What’s your favourite golf course?

Saadiyat Beach Golf Resort

What is the one thing you could not live without?

My phone

What is your favourite food?

Tacos

Who do you most look up to?

My parents because they are always helping me.

How would you spend your perfect day?

Probably go and do some shopping, go the beach and try to get a nice tan with my friends.

New York

Describe yourself in one word?

Happy

What do you like doing besides playing golf?

Working out and spend some time with friends

If you could travel anywhere where would you go?

Dubai because of the golf, the shopping and the beaches. 

What is your most memorable sporting moment?

When I won Ladies British Amateur 2016 because it was such a long week with many matches and the final went to play off and I won on the first hole. It was my first really big win.

What’s your best golfing tip for a beginner?

Have fun and don´t give up if you hit some bad shots or bad putts

Do you have any superstitions before a round?

No

What’s in your golf bag besides golf balls and clubs?

Except for the normal like gloves and tees etc I have water and fruit.

What tournament are you most excited to go to this year and why?

The LET in Abu Dhabi because I was there last year and loved the course and the arrangement and everything around. That is why I am really looking forward to this year’s tournament.

What are you working on in your game at the moment?

Some swing improvements and my putting

How did you celebrate your win in Finland?

I had dinner with my family and friends.

Are you looking forward to the World Cup, will you be watching Sweden?

I will definitely be watching Sweden in the World Cup but probably no more games than those. 

What are your goals for 2018?

Keep my LET card for next year and become the “rookie of the year”.
