Amateur Plachetka Pohl looks for maiden LETAS win

Between the years 2013-2017, Lara Plachetka Pohl has played four events on the LETAS. Her lowest score in this time had been a 74 in Finland earlier in the year.

The twenty-year amateur from France who calls Terre Blance Golf Club home, shot a career low 69 followed by a second round 65 to take the outright lead heading into the final round of the €35,000 Castellum Ladies Open. It is worth mentioning that her second round was a bogey-free five under effort at the par-70 Sundsvall Golf Club.

Speaking post her round, Plachetka Pohl spoke about keeping an eye on the scenery as she attempts to enjoy her time on the property. “I played very solid today. Despite missing a short putt, overall it was a great day.”

The first round was interrupted by thunderstorms, forcing the professionals to come back and finish their round the next morning. The second round tee times were pushed up by an hour. “For the opening round, despite the weather conditions – I tried to make less mistakes as compared to the rest of the field.”

The second day has seen the return of sunny skies, but the greens are firming up as the business end of the tournament approaches. There is no wind to speak of, however in the afternoon rounds it did pick up a bit.

Signing off, the young amateur plans to try to treat everything as ‘normally’ as possible come tomorrow’s final 18. “My preparation is not going to change, I will approach tomorrow as if it were the first round.”

Plachetka  Pohl has quietly built herself a three shot lead over Spain’s Eun Jung Ji Kim (69, 68). For the week, Ji Kim has carded only four bogeys against seven birdies and her best finish this season was T11 in Spain.

Overnight leader Jane Turner from Scotland slipped down to T3 with a second round one-over 71.

The cut fell at +4 at the course located in Kvissleby, Sweden. 45 professionals and ties made the final round. Order of merit leader Meghan Maclaren (72, 69) is currently T12 alongside Sweden’s Johanna Gustavsson (71, 70).
