Jenny Haglund
Sweden’s Jenny Haglund shot a stunning 64 on the final day of the Azores Ladies Open, to win by five shots at Golf de Batalha.
Haglund started her last round two shots behind overnight leader Csilla Lajtai-Rozsa of Hungary and soon made up ground with birdies on the first three holes.
Lajtai-Rozsa relinquished her lead after a double bogey on the 4th hole, followed by a bogey on the 5th. The Swede further strengthened her position with birdies on the 10th, 11th and 13th. The 19 year-old Hungarian made a charge on the back nine with a string of four birdies in a row from the 10th but Haglund continued strongly, with further birdies on the 16th and 18th. Lajtai-Rozsa finished the day with a 71 and an even par total, 216.
France’s Astrid Vayson de Pradenne and Joyce Chong of the Netherlands finished alongside Lajtai-Rozsa in joint second place. Both players closed with matching 70’s to also finish at level par.
Haglund moved into 2nd place on the LETAS ranking, with just two events now remaining this season. At the end of the year the top five players on the Order of Merit will progress onto the Ladies European Tour for 2017.
The penultimate event, the WPGA International Challenge, will take place next week at Stoke by Nayland Hotel Golf & Spa from the 6 – 8 October.
