Germany’s Olivia Cowan won the Borås Ladies Open in Sweden to record her second title on the LET Access Series this season.

The 19-year-old looked to be running away with the title, with birdies on the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th and 9th holes to cover the front nine in 31 shots and move to -12, taking a five shot lead over Brazil’s Victoria Lovelady.

The highly ranked amateur stumbled over the closing six holes, recording five bogeys but had built a larger enough lead to stay just ahead of the charging Oona Vartianen. The Finn recorded five birdies between the 3rd to the 12th hole but a costly bogey on the 16th gave Cowan a little bit of breathing space and despite a bogey on the final hole, the German recorded a one shot victory. Vartianen shot a final round of 69 for a total of 210, 6 under par.

Brazil’s Victoria Lovelady (72) finished in third place on 5 under par, recording her best finish on the LET Access Series this season. Scotland’s Michele Thomson (71) claimed 4th position finishing at 3 under par for a 213 total with Swedish amateur Josefine Nyqvist in 5th place on her own at one under par, 215.

The LET Access Series will move to Belgium for the CitizenGuard LETAS Trophy at Rinkven Golf & Country Club, which takes place from the 16 – 18 July.
