Nicole Garcia
South Africa’s Nicole Garcia shot 71, two under par, to take a three shot lead after the second round of the Lalla Aicha Tour School in Rabat, Morocco.
The 23-year-old from Kempton Park bogeyed the short 4th hole but recovered well with back-to-back birdies on the 7th and 8th holes to reach the turn in one under par. A further two birdies on the 12th and 13th briefly gave the South African a five shot lead but a bogey on the 16th halted Garcia’s progress.
France’s Astrid Vayson de Pradenne, teeing off from the 10th tee started poorly, with a run of five bogeys in a row from the 11th to the 15th. The 29-year-old fought back with a closing nine of 3 under par, to finish with a 75 and a level par total for the tournament.
Netherland’s amateur Anne Van Dam sits alone in third place after a one over par 74 placed her on +1.
Iceland’s Valdis Jonsdottir (73) and Brazil’s Victoria Lovelady (76) are tied for fourth place at 3 over par, with Sweden’s Louise Friberg (72) and Colombian amateur Anna Christina Kindgren (77) a further two shots back at five over par in a tie for 5th position.
After 72 holes, the top forty-two players and ties will progress to the Final Stage of Lalla Aicha Tour School, which takes place at the Samanah and Al Maaden courses in Marrakech, from the 17 – 21 December.
