Norway’s Tonje Daffinrud shot an impressive 66, 5 under par to lead by two shots after the first round of the Grecotel Amirandes Ladies Open.
The 23-year-old from Tonsberg is enjoying a rich vein of form, with a win at the Azores Ladies Open last week, in only her second event as a professional. If Daffinrud picks up her second professional event, it could propel the Norwegian into the top ten of the order of merit and in reach of an LET card for next season.
Daffinrud was pleased with her overall round, she said “It feels good, it was kind of an easy round. I hit 18 greens, which makes it a lot easier. Out here it’s about making the putts, I gave myself a lot of chances, my putting was really good.”
Daffinrud’s closet challengers are Denmark’s Daisy Nielsen, who played alongside Daffinrud in the first round and Astrid Vayson de Pradenne from France, who both shot 68’s to be tied for second place.
A further shot back at 2 under par are Sweden’s Anna Svenstrup and Maria Beautell from Spain.
