This week’s Royal Belgian Golf Federation LETAS Trophy will see a field of 82 players from 18 different countries take to Rinkven Golf Club in Gravenwezel, Belgium.
It is the first time the LET Access Series will visit Belgium and the parkland design of the Rinkven Golf Club, set just outside the city of Antwerp, will prove a challenging test for the players, with its tricky approach shots and fast greens.
The field will include plenty of home grown talent, featuring a total of sixteen Belgian players, including eleven amateurs. Belgium’s top ranked amateur Leslie Cloots will be keen to impress. The Antwerp native recently reached the final of the British Ladies Amateur Championship at Royal St Georges in June this year, after a successful school season at the University of North Carolina. Cloots eventually lost out to LETAS member, Emily Pedersen, from Denmark, 3 and 1 in the final.
Other top amateurs in the field include Manon De Roey and Fanny Cnops, who are both based at university in the United States.
Current LETAS Order of Merit leader, Sweden’s Isabella Ramsay will be looking to improve on her tied 9th finish at last week’s Pilsen Golf Challenge, whilst fellow Swede Emma Westin, Melanie Mäetzler from Switzerland and Italy’s Vittoria Valvassori, who occupy 6th, 4th and 3rd place on the Order of Merit respectively, will all be vying for top honours this week.
The Royal Belgian Golf Federation LETAS Trophy will be contended over three rounds from Thursday 17th to Saturday 19th July. After 36 holes, there will be a cut to the leading 40 professionals and ties.
