France’s Valentine Derrey shot the low round of the day, 66, to win the Open Generali de Dinard at Dinard Golf in Saint Briac sur Mer, France, by two shots from Sweden’s Isabella Ramsay.
Derrey began the final round at 3 under par, one shot behind overnight leader, Vittoria Valvassori and started the day strongly with a birdie at the 463 yard par five 2nd hole. The Frenchwoman, who celebrated her 27th birthday last Friday, also birdied the 9th and 10th holes to move into the lead at 6 under par and played the final 8 holes in even par to seal her victory.
Ramsay birdied three of the first four holes to reach 5 under par but a double bogey on the short par four 6th and bogeys on the 8th and 16th holes set back the Swede’s challenge for her second title of the season, finishing the tournament at 4 under par.
Italian Anna Rossi, a winner on the LET Access Series in the 2012 Azores Ladies Open, recorded her best result of this season, with a final round of one over par and 3rd place at 2 under par, 205.
Spaniard Marta Sanz Barrio, a recent graduate from Auburn University in the United States, finished in fourth place at even par. Sanz Barrio, the younger sister of Patricia Sanz Barrio, will be hoping to emulate Patricia and qualify via LETAS for next season’s Ladies European Tour.
Vittoria Valvassori from Italy, who led after 36 holes, closed with a four over par, 74, to finish in fifth position at one over, 208.
The LET Access Series will move on to the Czech Republic for the Pilsen Golf Challenge, from the 9th – 11th July, which will be played at Golf Park Plzen, the same venue as the Ladies European Tour event.
