Julie Tvede
Denmark’s Julie Tvede shot an impressive 66, 5 under par, to lead after the first round of the Grecotel Amirandes Ladies Open at the Crete Golf Club. The 33 year-old from Frederiksberg scored six birdies in her opening nine holes, before completing the tougher nine in one over par. Tvede is currently lying 31st on the LETAS Order of Merit and needs a strong performance this week to put herself back in contention for a Ladies European Tour card for the 2014 season.
Chloe Leurquin from Belgium played consistently with two birdies on each of her nine holes for a round of four under par, 68. With just three events remaining on this season’s schedule, Leurquin will also be looking for a high finish to move up from her current position of 9th on the Order of Merit. The top five players at the end of the season will earn their playing rights on the Ladies European Tour.
England’s Charlotte Wild, Linda Henriksson from Finland and Swede Linnea Torsson are a further shot back in a tie for third place, at 3 under par, with Italy’s Elisabetta Bertina in 6th place at 2 under.
The second round’s play will commence at 9.00am, teeing off from both the 1st and 10th tees.
