Nicole Broch Larsen
Denmark’s Nicole Broch Larsen completed an impressive second victory on the LET Access Series, winning the Ladies Norwegian Challenge by four shots from South African Laurette Maritz at Hauger Golf Club, near Oslo on Friday.
Broch Larsen won the HLR Golf Academy Open, her first event as a professional, in early August and has now won both times she has teed up as a professional.
Starting the final round with a three shot lead over Northern Ireland’s Danielle McVeigh, Broch Larsen dropped a solitary shot on the front nine, with a bogey on the par five third hole. None of the Dane’s closest competitors were able to make a strong challenge on the back nine and Broch Larsen was able to play conservatively over the homeward stretch. She commented, “I saw a leaderboard on the 13th hole and I was three shots ahead so I was able to play steadily from there.” Broch Larsen finished her round with a birdie on the 18th for a final round of one over par, 73. “I feel good, I didn’t play that well today so I am very happy.”
South African Laurette Maritz, who has been visiting Norway to carry out some work with her charity, Eyes for Zimbabwe, finished strongly with a round of one under par, 71. Maritz will travel to France to play in the Ladies European Tour event, the Lacoste Open de France at Chantaco Golf Club next week.
Thailand’s Titya Plucksataporn shot a final round of level par to sit alongside Danielle McVeigh, who closed with a three over par 75, both players finishing on 217, +1.
Spain’s Mireia Prat maintained her position at the top of the LETAS Order of Merit, finishing in a tie for 16th place, whilst Broch Larsen moved up to 3rd.
The LET Access Series moves to England next week for the WPGA International Challenege, which takes place from the 26 – 28 September at Stoke by Nayland Hotel Golf & Spa in Levenheath.
