MALCHIRAND HOPING FOR A SUCCESSFUL WEEK IN FRANCE

France’s Lucie Malchirand is hoping for another successful week at the Hauts de France Pas de Calais Golf Open.

The 21-year-old has found recent good form with two top 10 finishes in the latter half of the season and has missed no cuts.

“Because we’re in France this week I would love a top three or a win.

“My dad is going to be on the bag this week. So I’m really excited about making it a good tournament.

“I need a win to be in the top seven, so maybe this could be the week.”

Despite being miles from home, Malchirand is still enjoying playing in her home country.

“Obviously I live in South of France which is very different from where we are this week but I’m sharing with a friend and still very happy to play in my country again.

“Obviously I wish we were in the south because here in the north we are struggling with the weather

“I hope it’s going to be better for the tournament. The course is nice. I like it because I’m a longer driver so that makes me hit some good shots and have better positions for the green.”

In 2021 Malchirand competed in the Ladies Italian Open as an amateur and followed in the footsteps of Atthaya Thitikul and Steph Kyriacou by winning as an amateur.

Yet, the Frenchwoman has competed mostly on LETAS this season in a bid to win her full LET status back.

Now Malchirand feels her game is the strongest it’s been all season.

“My short game is coming along nicely; I’m getting more confident with my putting so I’m pretty happy about my game this week.

“I started the season how I ended last year, so I’m happy that my game is getting better and better.

“For me it’s about confidence, my confidence in my own game has come back and that’s why me and my scores are getting better and better.”

Malchirand tees off at 13:30pm local time alongside the Netherlands’ Nikki Hofstede and Denmark’s Amalie Leth-Nissen.
