After a low-scoring second day, Swedes Kajsa Arwefjalll and Anna Magnusson alongside the Netherland’s Lauren Holmey sit at the top of the leaderboard on nine-under-par.
Holmey went one shot better than yesterday to card a 67 (-5).
The 21-year-old, who started on 10, only rolled in six birdies and only one bogey on her 12th hole to top the leaderboard.
“I had a lot of fun on the course. I’ve just been sticking to my processes with my dad. Last week was tough but that’s golf so I’ve just been enjoying this week a lot.
“I’ve been enjoying the course; my game is feeling good. So, I just want to take it one shot at a time and have a lot of fun out there.”
A graduate of LETAS in 2022, Holmey has returned this season to win her LET card back again.
“I love the environment on LETAS. So, I’ve enjoyed coming back out here. Of course, once you graduate you don’t really want to come back. But that’s life. I’ve really learnt a lot this year.
“Last year was a big jump from being almost amateur to the LET right away. So, I had to learn a few thing the hard way.
The Dutch player currently sits 12th on the Order of Merit with 516.25 points, so a win this week could see her dramatically climb the rankings.
“I’ve been having a lot of fun and just been building my confidence. Hopefully I can continue that way for the next couple of events.”
It’s been a while since Holmey found herself in the leading group and she’s excited to experience it again.
“We play to be in those leading groups and in those final fights. I’m expecting a few people to come out and watch. A few people already came today, so I will just keep tomorrow as fun as today.”
Fellow 2022 graduate, Sweden’s Anna Magnusson carded a fabulous round of two bogeys, seven birdies and one eagle to make the most of moving day.
“It feels good out there. On the back nine today I made some good putts which was fun.
“I’ve got a good group this week. I played with Mimi who shot eight under today, it was unreal, so it’s great to be inspired that.”
Magnusson played the Rose Ladies Open in 2022 but admits the week feels like a brand-new tournament for her.
“Honestly, I don’t remember anything from 2022. I don’t remember much so I’m taking it as a new week and just enjoying the atmosphere and the event.”
The 2024 Terre Blanche Ladies Open winner currently sits sixth in the LETAS Order of Merit and is wanting to keep herself within the top seven to earn automatic promotion to the LET.
“I’m a little bit stressed about the Order of Merit. Everyone obviously keeps talking about it and I’m just out here trying to do my own thing. I’m just trying to stick to what my coach and I are talking about and working on.
“There are so many amazing players in the field this week, so honestly, I’m just happy to be up there and it’s not going to be my focus tomorrow. I will just go out there and try and have fun”
LETAS’ number one ranked player Kajsa Arwefjall looked to be having lots of fun on the course and carded another excellent round of 67(-5) of seven birdies and two bogeys.
“I’m super happy after today. It was fun to end with a birdie too. “It’s always nice to play with good players. If they are playing well, you can feed off each other. It was very nice.”
The three-time LETAS champion already has two wins to her name this season but admits that winning the Rose Ladies Open would be super special.
“To win here would mean so much especially since my dad flew out here to caddy. So far, this event has been super special, it’s been the best event so far. So, to win here would be incredible.”
England’s Lianna Bailey, Mimi Rhodes, Hannah Screen, Switzerland’s Elena Moosmann and Germany’s Helen Briem are all tied for fourth on seven-under-par.
All are previous LETAS winners except for recent Curtis Cup winner Rhodes, who is making her professional debut this week.
48 players made the cut which stands at +2. The final round commences at 8:10am from tee 1 with the leaders going out at 12:00am.
