A SPECIAL WEEK FOR HUME AT HOME

Hume

England’s Ellen Hume has been counting down the days for this week since the LET Access Series (LETAS) schedule was published.

It’s a full circle moment for the 24-year-old who first picked up a club at the Club at Mill Green 10 years ago.

“I live about 15 minutes away and grew up playing here for 10 years. To have an event so close to home means the world.

“To see old friends, ladies, old coaches and some juniors from when I was around, is really fun and super special.”

It’s packed at the Hume household who are hosting all of her fellow Ole Miss graduates and friends.

“We are a full house this week, I’ve got my teammates from Ole Miss; Andrea, Ellen and Natasha living with me. I’m a large family anyway. There will be 11 of us in the house this week. So that’s fun.”

Whilst, Hume has completed plenty of rounds of golf at Mill Green, the course looks a little different from when she was a member.

“The greenkeepers have done a ton of work. From when I was playing here, the nines have switched around and the bunkers have been redone.

“The course is in great condition and the weather’s meant to be great- especially for England.”

“I do feel some pressure this week. I guess it is an advantage that I’ve played the course a lot. It does play different to when I’m a junior so I’m trying to not put any pressure on myself and just enjoy the week.

“A win would be incredible and amazing in terms of what it could lead to but I’m trying to not put any pressure on myself.

“I want to enjoy the weekend, see friends and family who I haven’t seen when I’ve been on the road.”

Hume, who has played five events on the season, three as a professional, has scored better since joining the professional ranks.

As a professional, Hume is yet to miss a cut and has placed consistently in the top 20.

“Every week I’ve been steadily improving. My game is steadily progressing and hopefully it will finish with a high.

“I don’t know if I can attribute the higher scores to one thing but I’m just really enjoying pro-life and getting to play with friends.”

Hume is part of a large contingent of Ole Miss graduates playing on LETAS and cites them as her rocks and inspirations on tour.

“Obviously seeing Chiara Tamburlini graduate last year and now being in the top 5 of the LET and the likes of Andrea and Natacha currently in the LETAS top 10 on the Order of Merit, shows what a great program it is.

“It shows how underrated Ole Miss is. To have us all travelling together now, you can’t really ask for much better.”

Hume will get her tournament campaign underway on Friday, Aug 30.
