LETAS GRADUATES GET READY FOR KENYA

LETAS

Whilst the top 20 spots are the ones sought after at Q School, LETAS players who finish 21-50 at Qualifying School, earn several chances to play on the LET’s next season.

Seven LET Access Series (LETAS) players from the 2023 season earned category 16 at Q School and a fair few will compete at the first LET event of the season, Magical Kenya Ladies Open.

A total of 16 LETAS graduates should tee it up at Vipingo Ridge including category 16 players – England’s Thalia Martin, Georgina Blackman, Sweden’s Corinne Viden, Spain’s Marta Martin, Ireland’s Lauren Walsh, Slovenia’s Katja Pogacar and Finland’s Emily Pentilla.

Sweden’s Corinne Viden had an excellent 2023 season finishing 11th on the Order of Merit after five top-10 finishes and a few narrow misses on a win.

Speaking about earning a higher category, the Swede said: “I enjoyed my experience at q-school. I have improved my game this year and that is what we’re playing for. Right? To get better.

“Q-school includes a lot of stress, but I managed my emotions and stayed focused. Obviously wished for more, but I am happy to level up and I am excited for a new year!”

England’s Thalia Martin narrowly missed out on finishing in the Q School top 20 by one shot, but the Peterborough based player is excited to have more LET opportunities for 2024.

Martin said: “It means the world but hurts to miss by one shot however it was such a tough field and to come out with the category I am in, I am grateful.”

“It is only just the beginning”.

It was heartening to see Slovenia’s Katja Pogacar having a strong finish at Q School after disappointingly finishing her LETAS season seventh, one position away from earning a 2024 LET card.

The Magical Kenya Ladies Open is taking place between the 8th and the 11th of February and will see 108 players tee it up at the beautiful Vipingo Ridge Golf Course amongst stunning wildlife.
