A TRIP TO ITALY NEXT UP ON THE SCHEDULE

Whilst all eyes are on Spain for the Solheim Cup, behind the scenes our LET Access Series players (LETAS) have been busy practising for the final stretch of the season and the next tournament in Italy.

In just under two weeks, we will be teeing it up at Golf Club Varese for the Lombardia LETAS Open.

This event is a later addition to the schedule but it promises to be an exciting event with the course being unfamiliar territory for our players.

Situated at the foothills of the Pre-Alps with stunning views and a 12th century ancient convent clubhouse, Golf Club Varese will be a fantastic host for LETAS’ second venture to Italy.

A total of 108 players will tee it up in Italy for the 54-hole stroke play tournament.

Offering a prize fund of €50,000, the first winner of the Lombardia LETAS Open will be crowned on Saturday 7th October following a cut of the top 45 professionals and ties after round two.

With the LETAS Order of Merit heating up as we approach the end of the season, we are sure to be in for some showdowns on the course.

For players both inside and just outside the top six spots, it will be crucial to perform well in Italy to get one step closer to securing their LET Card for the 2024 season.

Currently Denmark’s Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen has led the Order of Merit (OOM) since the Flumserberg Ladies Open but the gap is closing with Elena Moosmann only 437.91 points behind.

The Swiss woman has had an excellent season but is yet to enter the winner’s circle so Moosmann will be looking to avenge this in Italy.

Friend and fellow Swiss player, Chiara Tamburlini has had quite the back end of the season with two wins at the PGA Championship Gothenburg and the Rose Ladies Open.

In third position currently, Tamburlini is keen to place as high as possible on the OOM and has shown time and time again that she’s one to watch out for.

Meanwhile, Slovenia’s Katja Pogacar is a recent addition to the top six where she sits on the borderline between the final stages of Q School and an automatic LET card.

After two second places, including losing a nail-biting playoff to South Africa’s Lejan Lewthwaite at the Hauts de France pas de Calais Golf Open, the Slovenian will be looking to make her presence known.

It’s sure to be an exciting week so follow all the action on @letaccess on Instagram, Twitter and TikTok and LET Access Series on Facebook – #RaiseOurGame.
