England’s Georgina Blackman is excited to play at Brocket Hall this week as she prepares to play on home soil at the Rose Ladies Open.
Blackman, a member at Brocket Hall, is excited about the prospect of playing a course which she is very familiar with.
“It’s great to have this event!” said the 27-year-old. “I’m excited, it’s nice to have a tournament so close to home and being a member here it is just nice to feel relaxed.”
But despite being a home favourite the Englishwoman is trying to treat this week like any other week and not think about the expectations.
She explained: “I surprisingly don’t feel nervous, even though people have asked quite abit about my expectations. I’m a member at Brocket but it isn’t my home course, so I know the course well, but it’s been a while since I played it.
“The course setup is different to what I expected, but it seems good so far.”
Blackman, who is currently ranked 23rd in the LETAS Order of Merit after two top-10 finishes this season is relishing home comforts this week.
“I’ve got some of my family coming to watch and it will be great to have them here.
“To win would be great, but I’m trying to not think about that. I will play the course as it is and take it one shot at a time and try to not think too far ahead.”
Alongside Blackman, ready to tee it up on her home course, is amateur Sophia Fullbrook who won an invite to the Rose Ladies Open through winning the Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship last year in Quinta do Lago, Portugal.
The 17-year-old from St. Albans, who has the same short game coach as Charley Hull and Georgia Hall is now ready to tee it up amongst the professionals at Brocket, where she has been a member for the last five years.
Fullbrook starts her campaign tomorrow at 9:00am local time whilst Blackman’s gets underway at 13:30pm.
