England’s Ellie Gower stayed calm on day two of the Ahlsell final at Elisefarm Golf Club to go into the final with a one-shot lead.
It was a steady day for the 21-year-old who started off strong with a birdie on the first before making 13consecutive pars until the 15th where she made a bogey.
Gower finished the last three holes off strong with all pars to finish the round on par and a five-under par total.
Speaking about the second round, Gower said: “I think it played a little bit harder out there today compared to yesterday.
“There was a bit more wind out on the course and I found the greens a bit slower, so it was a little bit difficult to adjust to that.
“I tried to just play as freely as I could, not think about anything too much like my score or what other people might be doing and just tried to play as well as I could.”
Gower who is currently ranked 49th in the LETAS Order of Merit has only missed two cuts this season and finished highest at the Trust Golf Link series in 15th position.
Yet this is the first time Gower is starting in the leading group as a professional and the English player is excited about the prospect.
“It feels good to be going out tomorrow as one of the leaders, I’ve never been in that situation as a professional before being in one of the final groups on the last day.
“My plan is to just try and do the same thing as what I have been doing the last two days, try to make as many good decisions as possible and just try to stay patient and calm.
“Another thing I want to do tomorrow is to try to really enjoy the experience of being one of the leaders and learn as much as possible!
Two Swedes, Isabell Elkstrom and amateur Matilda Bjorkman sit one shot behind Gower on four-under-par.
Elkstrom had the strongest round today out of the two, carding one bogey, three birdies and one eagle.
Meanwhile Bjorkman had more of a mixed round carding three bogeys and one birdie in the first nine, before bringing it back with five birdies and two bogeys on the back.
Bjorkman explaining the difference on the back nine said: “I woke up this morning with a headache and it was still there in the beginning of the round so I struggled a bit with the game on the front nine and had to fight for the pars.
“Then on the back nine I started to hit the ball better and I gave myself some good opportunities and I also made some putts.”
At 17-years-old, Bjorkman is one of the top Swedish amateurs and recently came 11th at the R&A girl’s amateur championships.
“Yesterday I feel like my game during whole round was better but I’m happy with my finish this round.
“Tomorrow, I will just try to keep on playing my game and go out and have fun and hopefully play some good golf.
“It would be fun to go in the leading group and I know that it is a good opportunity but as I said before I will just go out and try to do the best I can.”
There is a three-way tie for third position going into tomorrow with Switzerland’s Elena Moosmann, England’s Emily Price, and Swedish amateur Hanna Nilsson all on three-under-par.
Whilst Denmark’s Cecilie Finne Ipsen and Swiss amateur Natalie Armbruester sit on two-under-par.
50 players made the cut which stood at +5 with the final round beginning tomorrow at 8:00am local time.
