KIBSGAARD NIELSEN KEEN TO KEEP MOMENTUM AT AMUNDI CZECH LADIES CHALLENGE

Kibsgaard Nielsen

A week ago, Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen marked herself as the player to watch when she clinched her maiden professional win at the Montauban Ladies Open.

The leader after round two, the Dane fired a round of 68 (-4) to secure a three-shot victory at Golf De Montauban.

But the reality of what she achieved didn’t sink in straight away, in fact it’s only just begun to sink in now.

“It has sunk in now after all the messages I’ve received.” Kibsgaard Nielsen explained. “It’s just been so nice, and I know that I want to do it again now.

“I’m excited for this week, I don’t feel the pressure to win it’s more like I have to restart and do well again, It’s a new week.

“Last week was good, but I need to focus on the upcoming tournament.

“I like to play weeks in a row because I think you get into the mood of playing tournaments and being competitive so it’s exciting to do it again, especially after my win last week I know I need to keep going on and still be motivated to win and do my best.”

Kibsggard Nielsen heads into the Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge as one of the players to watch as the 24-year-old now dominates both the Order of Merit and Rookie of the Year Leaderboards by over 500 points.

“I have more confidence this week than I had coming into the last one, but I think I’m just going to use that as an advantage and just do whatever I have to do.

Visually the course this week is different to Montauban, being elevated and steeper but Kibsgaard Nielsen praises it highly.

“The course is super cool and very high quality, everything just looks very nice, and the greens are very fast.

“I don’t remember last time I played greens like that. So, play requires a lot of practice to be ready.”

“The course requires you to be very good at speed control on greens and you have to the straight to hit the greens. So, I think I think scores are going to be a bit higher than last week.”

Denmark’s Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen is hoping to make an impression when she tees it up alongside Malaysia’s Ainil Bakar and Czech amateur, Patricie Macková at 13:30pm local time tomorrow.
