Antonella Cvitan
Sweden’s Antonella Cvitan picked up her first victory on the LET Access Series, winning the Samso Ladies Open after a one-hole play-off against young Danish amateur Nicole Broch Larsen.
The pair tied on three under par 213 after 54 holes at Samso Golf Club and Cvitan won with a par on the first extra hole after Broch Larsen hit her tee shot out of bounds.
Cvitan had not played a practice round on the course prior to teeing up in the tournament due to other commitments but managed rounds of 70, 73 and 70 to match Broch Larsen, who held a three stroke lead going into the final round.
The Swede birdied the seventh, 10th and 13th holes, before dropping just one shot at the par-four 16th.
Cvitan said after the round: “I played solid today, made some good putts and had only one bogey, which came on the long 16th that played into the wind today.
“We (Nicole Larsen) were even after that and I managed two good pars on the last two with a good up and down on the last where I over shot the green for my second. In the play-off I stuck to my game plan hitting an iron off the tee and par proved enough second time around.
“It has really been a fantastic week with so many kind people. The course was in great condition and the scenery is beautiful with the ocean right up to some of the holes.”
Scots Pamela Pretswell and Pamela Feggans moved up into a share of third on one under par while Frenchwoman Marion Ricordeau finished alone in fifth on level par and retained her position as the leader of the LETAS order of merit.
