KOUSKOVA DEFENDS HOME TITLE IN FIRST PROFESSIONAL START

The 2021 Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge champion Sara Kouskova will be defending her title as she tees it up for the first time with a professional status.

Her home club Prague City Golf will be hosting the fifth edition of the event which starts tomorrow in the Czech capital. The local golf star gives the fans more than just one reason to have her on the watch list this week.

Kouskova, who recently graduated and finished her college golf career in Texas, turned professional only a few days ago and starts the new chapter of her golf journey.

“I am really excited to tee it up in my first professional event and so grateful to be playing here at my home club. Turning professional means fulfilling my childhood dream,” admits the 22-year-old.

She continues: “On the other hand, the new status doesn’t change much. I still want to play my best and win.”

The new member of the LET Access Series has her eyes on the prize as she looks back at her 2021 triumph which made Czech history.

For many years the best amateur in the country, Kouskova was the first Czech amateur to ever win a tournament on a professional tour and the first Czech player to win on LETAS.

The University of Texas graduate got back to her homeland only a few days before the start of the tournament.

“The last few weeks have been very busy with graduation, final tournaments in the United States, and packing and moving back home after four years of living in Texas,” acknowledged the rising star.

“But the timing worked out great as I will be starting the new chapter of my golf career at a course that I know very well, with a home audience, and at the event that I have the best memories from last year.”

Kouskova will tee off on Friday morning alongside the LETAS Order of Merit leader Lucrezia Colombotto Rosso of Italy and recent LETAS winner, amateur Lauren Holmey from the Netherlands.

The field of 115 players will compete for a purse of €37,500 in a 54-hole stroke-play format with a cut after two rounds. Action gets underway at 8:00 a.m. local time.
