SPECIAL MOMENTS FROM 2023

2023 was a big year for the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS).

Week after week we witnessed stunning shots, heart-breaking misses and tear-jerking wins as the tour travelled to eight countries across Europe.

So many unforgettable moments occurred but we’ve rounded up some of the best stories from the 2023 season, so read on and relive all the action before the next season inevitably comes round again.

1. LOUISE UMA LANDGRAF MAKES PROFESSIONAL GOLF HISTORY

History was made early on at the second tournament of the season, the Terre Blanche Ladies Open as France’s Louise Uma Landgraf became the youngest winner of a professional golf tournament.

At just 14 years, 2 months, and 18 days old, the French player came from behind to win in a quick one-hole play-off against the more experienced Dutch player Pasqualle Coffa and France’s Charlotte Liautier.

Landgraf went on last year to hold her own against the LET professionals after making the cut at the 2023 Jabra Ladies Open.

2. TROPHY BY AIR

When Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen clinched her first win there was hardly a dry eye watching out at Golf de Montauban.

Her breakthrough victory was sensational and we knew we had witnessed a special player, a star on the rise.

To mark a very special win, we were honoured with the iconic Olympe De Gouges Trophy being delivered to Kibsgaard Nielsen by air.

Five paratroopers, with one carrying the trophy, slowly descended on the 18th green as the crowd watched stunned and surprised.

Now, we are left wondering if any prize ceremony in 2024 will top it?

3. A SWISS SHOWDOWN AT ROSE

The Rose Ladies Open is always a hotly anticipated event on the LETAS Schedule, and the 2023 edition did not disappoint.

On the final day we couldn’t keep our eyes off the scoreboard as Swiss friends and colleagues, Chiara Tamburlini and Elena Moosmann went head-to-head for the win.

The Swiss sensations played in two different groups, with Tamburlini eventually securing her second victory by finishing on 12-under-par, two shots in front.

Seeing Moosmann’s delight in her friend’s victory on the 18th green was a testament to the sportsmanship and comradery on LETAS.

4. SCREEN’S DREAMS COME TRUE

Screen’s rookie year on LETAS was a true Cinderella tale.

The 23-year-old Englishwoman started the year with no status, category 18- LET Q School non-attendees, but went on to win a coveted LET card for the 2024 season.

Screen arrived last season at the third event, the Flumserberg Ladies Open as an invite and immediately made an impression.

The two events at Ramside Hall were a turning point for Screen as she put herself in contention for the win twice and finished eighth and third respectively.

The Englishwoman was the final entry into the top six after finishing the season with a flourish.

A win at the penultimate event and runner up position at the final, Santander Golf Tour- Zaragoza saw Screen implement herself as a future star.

5. A FITTING END TO THE SEASON

The final event saw Switzerland’s Elena Moosmann prove the fable right, the tortoise wins in the end.

The 21-year-old has been a name to watch on the LET Access Series since 2019 when she won her home tournament, the VP Bank Ladies Open at just 17-years-old as an amateur.

2022 was Moosmann’s first full season on the tour where she finished 18th on the Order of Merit (OOM) after nine events and three top-10 finishes but she returned last year with a fire in her belly and slowly but surely cemented herself at the top of the OOM, finishing second.

We couldn’t have dreamt of a better last addition to the 2023 winner’s circle.
